  • UVA Health researchers at the Brain Institute have shown how the ketogenic diet stops seizures by identifying the process behind its effect in patients with drug-resistant epilepsy — findings that may lead to new therapies without the need for a strict diet.  29 News

  • The Cavaliers wrestled No. 13 North Carolina in their home opener on Friday, falling 25-10 as coach Garland said the team lacked key technique + execution. Virginia will host Stanford at 5 p.m. on Jan. 24 at the Aquatic and Fitness Center as the team works to improve.  The Cavalier Daily
  • No. 16 Virginia beat SMU 72-68 in Dallas as Malik Thomas scored 23 points and grabbed a career-best (11 rebounds) while Thijs De Ridder added 17 points to secure the win.  CBS 19 News
  • Rafael Jódar turned professional after a strong collegiate career and outstanding play at the Next Gen ATP Finals in Jeddah; he is set to face Rei Sakamoto in the Australian Open first round today (after earning Challenger titles including one in Charlottesville).  The Cavalier Daily
  • Malik Thomas scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as No. 16 UVA rallied to a 72-68 win at Moody Coliseum Saturday. The victory marked the team's fifth win in a row and they will host North Carolina Jan. 24 with a court-naming ceremony for former coach Tony Bennett.  Cville Right Now
