- ➤ A fire sprinkler malfunction flooded operating rooms at UVA Hospital on Wednesday night, Jan. 21, leading to the immediate closure of seven rooms while repairs have begun. Three rooms reopened Thursday, and no surgeries or patients were harmed as cases were moved to other ORs. 29 News

- ➤ Five films nominated for Best Picture (Frankenstein, Hamnet, The Secret Agent, Sinners, Train Dreams) screened during October’s Virginia Film Festival in Charlottesville, which set a record with 58 Oscar nominations across 22 categories and also included a Best Documentary Feature entry.
