- ➤ Virginia State Police responded to 506 crashes amid winter weather by 4 p.m. on Monday — 38 of which resulted in injuries. 29 News

- ➤ Students from The Incident, Amuse Bouche, and The Whethermen staged a free comedy show in Warner Hall on Friday for a college crowd. The groups blended improv and sketch comedy and teased a contest (called a 'Jack-off') that set the stage for more shows later. The Cavalier Daily
- ➤ 106.1 The Corner is hosting a vinyl treasure hunt from Feb. 2 to Feb. 27 that hides a Pink Floyd 50th Anniversary Edition boxed set each week around Charlottesville; DJs will drop clues at 8:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. to guide participants to their prize. 106.1 The Corner

- ➤ Albemarle County Public Schools is seeking feedback on the new HMH into Literature language arts resource for grades 6-12 + printed samples are available for review on the third floor of the County Office Building. 29 News
- ➤ Charlottesville City Schools will provide free meals to students during school closures starting today — a service designed to help families as winter weather keeps children home. 29 News
- ➤ In university sorority recruitment last January on Rugby Road and Chancellor Street, Pi Chis (student mentors) guided over 1,100 potential new members through rounds with hands-on logistics and emotional support. They completed competitive training and disaffiliation by Dec. 1 to remain impartial throughout the process. The Cavalier Daily
- ➤ The University Board of Visitors now has a full 17 members after Gov. Spanberger appointed 10 new members on Jan. 17, replacing five who resigned. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A UVA Health researcher is studying how diseased kidneys may speed up heart disease by sending toxic messengers in the blood & hopes to find safer treatments for patients. 29 News
- ➤ UVA’s Emergency Department reported a rise in snow-related injuries from slips and falls as icy conditions develop after the winter storm. The hospital expects more patients to arrive as roads clear and locals venture out. 29 News
- ➤ During the Jan. 24 — 25 snowstorm, the volunteer Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad answered 33 emergency calls in 48 hours — using a stokes basket as a sled to move patients from icy homes to ambulances when roads became impassable. Charlottesville Tomorrow
