- ➤ The Pocket 9s have reformed with new members & fresh energy, drawing crowds at Phi Kappa Psi and Sigma Alpha Epsilon events as they gear up for the semester. College students are taking on new roles to perform covers and originals at local venues. The Cavalier Daily
- ➤ Ivy Creek Natural Area now preserves Historic River View Farm, land purchased in 1870 by formerly enslaved Hugh Carr that helped build a thriving Black community. Visitors can explore hiking trails — a small cemetery on site marks the Carr family legacy and the namesake of Greer Elementary School. 29 News

- ➤ The International Relations Organization hosted its 11th annual VIGMUN on Feb. 7 at the Student Health and Wellness Center as a low-stakes intergenerational event where middle school, high school, and college participants (and community members) discussed digital espionage and state-sponsored hacking through partnered debate. - ➤ Doctors at UVA Health are now using pulse field ablation to treat rapid, irregular heartbeats. The innovative procedure is among the first of its kind in the nation and expands local treatment options. 29 News
- ➤ According to the Virginia Department of Health, seven measles cases have occurred this year, surpassing the five cases reported in 2025. The illness mostly affects children 4 or younger who have not completed both vaccine doses (with 95% of kindergartners vaccinated), and experts say immunization rates help prevent an outbreak. 29 News

- ➤ The Virginia Cavaliers won two softball games at the Longwood Invitational despite rain cutting the weekend short, defeating Longwood and Toledo and extending their winning streak. - ➤ Charlottesville High School sent seniors Sam Palmer and Elaina Pierce to the Millrose Games in New York City Jan. 31-Feb. 1, where both finished in the top half of their mile runs and marked the first time the school had two athletes competing. Cville Right Now
