EDUCATION NEWS

  • Four CARELab students presented affordable housing solutions to City Council Saturday as part of an eight-day summer program using AI+local community input. Mayor Wade and other local leaders supported the innovative project aimed at tackling housing challenges.  29 News
  • A prom closet donation drive at Albemarle Schools is collecting dresses, suits, shoes and accessories to help students feel confident for prom this season — drop-off details will be announced soon.  29 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Campus workers and supporters gathered Saturday at Charlottesville Middle School to voice concerns after they were removed from a collective bargaining bill. The town hall (the first of five in the series) featured speakers who stressed that solidarity among workers is key to protecting their rights.  Cville Right Now
  • U.Va. Health is closely tracking key bills in Richmond’s legislative session (running until March 14) that could affect telehealth coverage, non-compete clauses, workplace safety, and medical education; if passed and signed by Gov. Spanberger, these measures will go into effect July 1.  The Cavalier Daily

SPORTS NEWS

  • Virginia's Cavaliers extended their win streak to 12 at the Mizuno Classic with a 5-0 tournament finish and several mercy rule wins while the final game was canceled due to weather. The team will resume play tomorrow at Longwood University at 2 p.m.  The Cavalier Daily
  • No. 15 Virginia women's tennis won a 4-1 dual against No. 23 SMU in their first home conference match, and the Cavaliers improved to 2-0 in conference play. They will face Clemson in upcoming road duals starting March 12.  The Cavalier Daily
  • The Cavaliers stunned No. 8 Louisville 74-72 at the KFC Yum! Center with a late three from Romi Levy, marking Coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton’s third top-10 win; the team will face UNC at John Paul Jones Arena on Thursday.  The Cavalier Daily
  • Sophomore Maxi Puregger posted a six-under 65 in the first round at the NC State-hosted Sykes Individual tournament in Raleigh (his best round so far), though rain canceled the final round, and the Cavaliers will travel to Las Vegas this weekend for the Southern Highlands Invitational.  The Cavalier Daily
  • On Saturday at John Paul Jones Arena, Chance Mallory sank three free throws with 3.6 seconds left to lift No. 14 Virginia to an 86-83 win over Miami while the Cavaliers honored former coach Tony Bennett by renaming the court—snapping Miami's four-game win streak.  29 News
