  • BrightStar is easing the transition to assisted living at The Blake by offering 1-on-1 care + daily activities that build community. The program helps counter isolation and supports seniors in feeling connected.  Cville Right Now
  • The Charlottesville Fire Department will host a town hall on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at CitySpace on the Downtown Mall where residents, businesses and partners can join discussions to shape local fire services; free food and validated parking in the Market Street Garage will be provided.  3WV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Boylan has rebranded its bar to attract a mature crowd with game-day watch parties, new menu items, and student-led management. The venue now hosts themed events and card game nights to replace its past first-year party scene.  The Cavalier Daily
  • A Conversation with John Grisham and Deirdre Enright will launch the Tom Tom Festival at the Paramount Theater on April 22. The discussion is set to offer local audiences insight from two renowned authors.  CBS 19 News
  • The Billy Idol documentary screening at Alamo Drafthouse took place on March 2 while Joshua Bell performs today at The Paramount Theater.   • The University of Virginia’s Pipelines and Pathways program has connected 507 people with employment opportunities since its launch in 2023, boosting career pathways for Charlottesville residents through education + career development.  29 News
  • The Faculty Senate met Friday to discuss new digital accessibility guidelines for online course materials required by a Justice Department ruling (faculty are advised to remove outdated PDFs and update content).   • Virginia lawmakers agreed to begin monitoring PFAS (forever chemicals) in biosolids used in farming after extensive stakeholder debates, with new guidelines expected soon.  CBS 19 News

  • UVA athletes shined this weekend as the men’s tennis team won 7-0 over Boston College on Friday and beat SMU 4-2 on Sunday while the softball team capped a 19-game win streak with a Farmville win and Palmer Invitational sweep. Both lacrosse teams lost on Saturday.  Cville Right Now
