- ➤ The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office hosted its 14th annual bloodhound training seminar yesterday with 31 K-9 teams practicing scent-tracking exercises near the Louisa Food Lion - teams from Virginia, Texas, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina tested their skills while sharing training ideas. 29 News
- ➤ Fluvanna County’s Economic Development Office said the restored Fork Union Drive-In will reopen April 10 and host 200+ cars and nearly 1,000 guests to enjoy new and classic movies. A local family led the revival with community support. Cville Right Now
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The 'Visions of Progress' exhibit shows 1920s African American portraits at Trinity Episcopal Church until March 11 and will move to Charlottesville High School next. Curator John Mason said the work tells a fresh history that focuses on dignity — a new look at our past. 29 News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Xavier Masri, a 14-year-old Charlottesville High freshman, is serving as Head Page at the House of Delegates in Richmond this semester to learn government workings (and boost fairness in resources). His experience is expected to equip him with skills he will bring back to his community. 29 News
- ➤ The University suspended its Sigma Nu chapter on Feb. 25 after hazing allegations were reported, pending a 45-day investigation (confirmed by the Associate VP for Student Affairs). No other fraternities face interim suspension, although four have been terminated after similar incidents. The Cavalier Daily
- ➤ The Cavalier Marching Band wrapped its season with lively performances at football games, ceremonies and other University events, and drum major Taran Gupta, a fourth-year engineering student, said long rehearsals and teamwork boosted school spirit on campus. The Cavalier Daily

- ➤ State officials say Virginia is moving toward rejoining the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative after leaving the program in 2023 under former Gov. Youngkin. Lawmakers are set to discuss next steps soon. 29 News
- ➤ The City installed new cash and card kiosks at the Water Street and Market Street garages on Feb. 27 to let drivers pay without creating a Metropolis account while still having their license plates scanned by the AI camera system (for exit control). Charlottesville Tomorrow

- ➤ Construction crews are replacing sidewalks and upgrading the public gathering space at the Barracks Road shopping center on Main Street between Spring Street and SOMA (project runs through August), and a new canopy will improve storefront visibility while local businesses will remain open during the work. 29 News
