COMMUNITY NEWS

  • iCan Bike camp is coming to Charlottesville to teach individuals with disabilities how to ride a bike (offering hands-on coaching) and promote independence. Organizers plan to launch the camp soon to give locals a chance to build biking skills.  29 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • UVA students hosted Daigakon, the first anime and gaming convention on the Grounds, drawing fans from Central Virginia after months of planning. The event offered a welcoming space for enthusiasts — a new cultural highlight for the community.  29 News
  • More than 60,000 fans gathered at Scott Stadium Saturday evening when country star Luke Combs performed on his 'My Kinda Saturday Night' tour with openers Dierks Bentley, Ty Myers, Jake Worthington & Thelma and James; his mix of upbeat hits and heartfelt ballads brought a memorable celebration.  The Cavalier Daily

  • Dr. Amanda Lloyd, director of the Virginia Prison Education Program (which offers the first bachelor's degrees to incarcerated individuals), discussed her role and the historic university initiative on the latest episode of On Record.  The Cavalier Daily
  • A senior at Monticello High School is working on a project to bring financial literacy books to Virginia schools — a plan aimed at improving money skills for future students.  29 News
  • Fourth-year student Allison McVey ended her term as University Judiciary Committee chair Wednesday after serving since April 1, 2025. During her term the UJC adjudicated 31 cases and launched a policies and projects subcommittee to boost student advocacy & update procedures, with Zach Davidson taking over as chair.  The Cavalier Daily

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new UVA Health study found that calls to the Blue Ridge Poison Center increased 383% for kava exposures since 2011 as local stores sell beverages combining kava (a drug with sedative effects) and kratom, which may lead to serious neurological risks. SPORTS NEWS

  • Virginia broke a 22-year winless streak against Duke today at Koskinen Stadium by winning 14-10, while senior midfielder Joey Terenzi led with a career-high five points and hat trick; the Cavaliers will face Syracuse next.  The Cavalier Daily
  • Virginia’s men’s tennis team defeated No. 17 Notre Dame 4-1 Friday afternoon at Boar’s Head Sports Club in a close regular season match. Key plays by Dylan Dietrich and Keegan Rice solidified the win (Virginia now prepares for Senior Day on Sunday).  The Cavalier Daily
  • No. 10 Virginia lost 9 to 3 to No. 7 Florida State at Scott Stadium today when the game was moved to 11 a.m. (to ease traffic ahead of the Luke Combs concert), capping a series drop after a scoreless start over seven innings.  The Cavalier Daily
  • Virginia Athletics said Saturday that Coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton will not return after four seasons that saw the team reach the NCAA Tournament, and a national search will begin immediately to find a new head coach.  The Cavalier Daily
  • Virginia women's lacrosse lost 19-4 to UNC on Friday at Klöckner Stadium. Despite 15 turnovers, junior midfielder Kate Galica recorded 15 draws as the team prepares for a home game against Boston College Saturday + an away match against Virginia Tech on April 16.  The Cavalier Daily
