  • Virginia Peale from The Center at Belvedere said nearly 400 volunteers donated over 40,000 hours during National Volunteer Month to support many programs.   • Charlottesville Police are investigating an assault last night on Carlton Avenue near Carlton Road (officers responded shortly after 9 p.m. to a report on the 1300 block and briefly blocked the street) while the investigation continues.  3WV

  • A University of Virginia economics professor criticized the administration's decision to impose a 104% tariff on Chinese goods, warning that the move has already started damaging the American economy + global trade while hitting allies like Canada, the UK, and Japan hard. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Charlottesville postponed its property tax and budget hearings set for Monday because a judge ruled the notice posted online and on social media did not meet state rules — the city must post a physical notice at City Hall. The hearings will now be held on April 21 — following a local resident's request for an emergency injunction.  3WV
  • On Tuesday night, April 9, IMPACT Cville hosted a meeting at Charlottesville High School to urge county leaders and the mayor for more affordable housing, improved transit and mental health services—presenting ideas like a housing trust fund and a $10 million annual commitment for new rental units.  29 News
