  • Hundreds of volunteers joined Women Build day at Southwood to expand access to affordable housing in Charlottesville — the event highlights community commitment and hands-on help.  CBS 19 News
  • Former UVA player and Packers wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks donated money to cover registration fees for the first 100 youth athletes signing up for a camp honoring Devin Chandler + the Devin Chandler Foundation announced the donation on Friday.  CBS 19 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • U.Va. released its second quarterly compliance report to the Justice Department Tuesday, outlining changes in student programming, hiring practices and external partnerships across several schools (including Darden and McIntire) as part of its civil rights compliance updates.  The Cavalier Daily
  • Virginia Tech President Tim Sands announced he will start the process of stepping aside after 12 years at the university, and he will remain in Blacksburg until his successor is in place—while noting significant growth in enrollment, research funding and endowment during his tenure.  3WV
