  • FYP director Layne Parker said first-year and transfer students will work on a new production of Tuck Everlasting at U.Va. The group builds an open + creative space to strengthen campus community through theater.  The Cavalier Daily

  • Genny Freed became the new Honor Committee Chair on April 6 and will boost outreach and transparency in case processing for students. The Committee will hold its first public meeting this Sunday at Newcomb Hall 480 at 7:00 p.m.  The Cavalier Daily
  • The Cavalier Daily earned 14 Virginia Press Association awards covering news writing, photography, illustration, podcasting and editorial work during its 136th term — honoring 31 staff members at an awards banquet held Saturday.  The Cavalier Daily

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Spanberger signed four bills today to control invasive plants in Virginia — the new laws aim to prevent their spread and protect local ecosystems.  29 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • The U.Va. Health Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Hypermobility Disorders Center hosted a two-day symposium on Thursday and Friday where researchers, clinicians, patients and students reviewed breakthroughs in diagnosing and caring for EDS (a rare connective tissue disorder) and called for broader institutional support.  The Cavalier Daily
  • UVA hosted its final spring U ask session (focused on HIV treatment accessibility) today at the university, where Dr. Kathleen McManus discussed barriers linking patients to needed care. The event aimed to spotlight challenges in accessing HIV treatment and inspire improved support for local residents.  29 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Virginia Cavaliers women's tennis clinched their first outright ACC regular season title with a 4-2 win over NC State on Sunday afternoon and will head to Cary for the ACC Championships. The win brings their streak to 13 games (a record for the program).  The Cavalier Daily
  • Virginia's baseball team lost its ACC game to Notre Dame in a closely fought match that ended with an even series. The Cavaliers will aim to clinch the rubber match Sunday at 1 p.m. in South Bend.  The Cavalier Daily
  • Virginia lacrosse lost 14-9 to Syracuse at the JMA Wireless Dome—despite a strong start from sophomore Ryan Duenkel—and will meet North Carolina at noon Saturday at Klöckner Stadium.  The Cavalier Daily
  • Virginia men’s basketball is building on last season’s success as key players such as Sam Lewis, Elijah Gertrude, Johann Grünloh, Thijs De Ridder and Chance Mallory confirmed their return; Coach Ryan Odom will add talent through the transfer portal ahead of the 2026-27 season.  The Cavalier Daily
