GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday night, the Charlottesville City Council passed a $265 million fiscal year 2026 budget that funds affordable housing, public schools and street repairs while keeping taxes unchanged. Councilor Michael Payne said the process was driven by fears about a fluctuating U.S. economy — prompting the city to hold a surplus and set a public hearing on tax rates for April 21.  29 News
