CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Flash, a University group, hosted the Strangers Project on South Lawn where students pinned anonymous letters sharing personal struggles and advice. The project, which first appeared on April 10 and 14 before a planned Monday event was cancelled, reminded passersby of their shared human experiences — connecting everyone through honest words. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Charlottesville City Schools was chosen to receive the former Federal Executive Institute property at no cost after the U.S. Department of Education approved its application, and the property will be used mainly for PreK classrooms with administrative offices. The schools will begin planning interior renovations soon to support a centralized preschool opening in Fall 2026—steps that will also free up space for additional programs. 3WV
- ➤ Charlottesville City Schools, Albemarle County Schools and Louisa County Schools signed a federal certification that will end DEI practices that advantage one race over another—only Loudoun and Fairfax have not signed. The certification warns that schools not in compliance risk losing federal funding as the Department of Education cracks down on such policies. 29 News

HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ UVA Health researchers ran a study where 30 toddlers with peanut allergies received small, increasing doses of peanut protein and 27 children became desensitized so they could eat peanuts without a reaction. The team is planning larger trials (based on the promising results) to further test the treatment. 29 News
