- ➤ On Saturday morning, May 10, mail carriers will pick up non-perishable food donations left in mailboxes by community members by 8 a.m. for the 33rd annual Stamp Out Hunger drive that benefits Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, and volunteers at local post offices will sort and distribute the items to branches in Charlottesville, Lynchburg, Verona, and Winchester — a step to help ensure families have food available as summer approaches. - ➤ Gov. Glenn Youngkin vetoed a plan to lower the body mass index needed for weight loss drugs under Medicaid — saving about $47 million in state and federal funds — and doctors said the change hurt patients who lost access to needed treatment after losing weight. The Daily Progress

- ➤ UVA Health researchers discovered a link between HIV medication and a lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Jayakrishna Ambati said the team plans clinical trials for people with a family history — while cautioning that the medication should not be taken without a prescription. 29 News
