- ➤ RiverFest is a free, family-friendly event hosted by local organizations at Rivanna River Company this Saturday from 2:30 to 9 p.m. It offers nature walks, face painting and tubing down the river, plus live music from Kadencia Orchestra from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cville Right Now
- ➤ Last Friday, May 8, On Our Own hosted a chalk mural event on the Downtown Mall to invite residents to pause and share self-affirmations. The peer recovery group used art to create a space for reflection and connection. 29 News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ During finals week, a data breach forced Canvas to shut down, leaving UVA students to quickly adjust their exam plans. University officials are investigating the incident (which disrupted exam access) as students work with alternative methods. 29 News
- ➤ On May 7, K-12 students from Charlottesville and nearby counties were recognized in the My Help List awards for essays that celebrate community service. Winners included students from Community Christian School Academy, Baker-Butler Elementary, homeschooling, and Fluvanna High School (Gabriella Smith, Thomas Shrader, Charlotte Lusk, and Michaiah Townsend). 29 News
- ➤ On Wednesday evening at Charlottesville-Albemarle Technical Education Center, 27 CATEC students signed commitments with 20 local businesses as part of the School-to-Work Signing Day Celebration (supported by state labor leaders Jessica K. - ➤ Chris Long (a two-time Super Bowl champion) visited Scottsville students and donated books as part of a local literacy program today, engaging them in story time to encourage reading. 29 News

- ➤ The University of Virginia lab will bring 130 cows to Morven Farm soon to help environmental scientists and students study soil for local farmers. This research project will support sustainable farming practices through hands-on study. 29 News

- ➤ UVA lacrosse, after a fall devoted to fundamentals, will face Georgetown Sunday night at Klockner Stadium in the NCAA tournament.
