- ➤ Charlottesville High School students spent months growing lettuce from seeds in their urban farming program; the school now serves the homegrown produce in the cafeteria. The project offers hands-on learning in food production for students. 29 News
- ➤ At St. Anne’s-Belfield School, seniors Alaja Gough and Henry Dozier earned national scholarships as Gough was named a QuestBridge Match Scholar for a full scholarship to Washington University in St. Louis and Dozier became one of 150 Coca-Cola Scholars with a $20,000 award for Yale University. - ➤ Woodberry Forest School senior Jayden Crosby-Brewer will host a ceremony on Saturday, May 16, at 2 p.m. in the memorial garden outside The Residence at 898 Woodberry Forest Road, honoring 53 enslaved individuals whose labor built the school + community members are encouraged to register for free attendance. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Doctor Chris Holstege of UVA Health advised people to take simple steps—wearing long pants tucked into socks and checking for ticks after outdoor time—to help avoid tick-related illnesses. He said not every bite needs an ER visit, with most concerns addressable through a primary care doctor. 29 News
- ➤ Health care leaders from across Virginia + industry experts will meet at a telehealth conference in Charlottesville to explore how virtual doctor visits can expand patient access. The event comes as online appointments become more common. 29 News

- ➤ Nine senior Mavericks at Miller School of Albemarle have signed with major college baseball programs, marking a milestone for the school. The student-athletes will continue their athletic careers at the next level in upcoming seasons. 29 News
- ➤ Nine seniors from Miller School of Albemarle signed with college baseball programs on Monday, May 11. The group includes players headed to UNC, Virginia Tech, Coastal Carolina and a USA Baseball Women’s National Team member, with school officials celebrating the milestone and noting family ties to local baseball history. 29 News
