- ➤ Shelby Bavin, a UVA student-athlete and volunteer firefighter, was named captain of the Allstate Spring Good Works Team today after volunteering over 2,000 hours (with the Seminole Volunteer Fire Department) and was honored at a campus ceremony with flowers from ESPN’s Holly Rowe. 3WV
- ➤ Albemarle County Fire Rescue hosted a car seat safety event yesterday to guide parents on proper installations as recruits checked seat stability and answered common questions. Families can visit their local fire department (help is available year-round) for future assistance with installations. 29 News
- ➤ Onesty Family Aquatic Center & Booker T. Washington Park Pool are open this Memorial Day weekend from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday to help residents kick off the summer season. 29 News
