- ➤ On Memorial Day, community members gathered at Ting Pavilion to honor fallen service members — the ceremony included wreath presentations, speeches, and prayers as families and veterans remembered their sacrifice. 29 News
- ➤ Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is launching its summer program to feed over 500 students with thousands of meals by August, partnering with local schools, Boys + Girls Club and churches to support families during the break. 29 News
- ➤ Monday, May 25, the Earlysville VFW Post hosted a Memorial Day ceremony where veterans, families and neighbors gathered to honor those lost to war. The event (held by VFW Post 2044) featured a rifle volley and performances by the Boy Scouts and the Second Union Band despite rain. 29 News
- ➤ Ronald McDonald House in Charlottesville has updated its look following a nationwide rebrand, and the 9th Street location now displays a red house logo with a white hand-drawn heart that reinforces its mission of keeping families together as children receive lifesaving care from UVA Health Children’s. - ➤ PVCC will host the VHSL Film Festival on June 6 at the V. Earl Dickinson Building, where 45 films by high school filmmakers from 27 schools will be screened. The event features keynote speaker Mark Maxey plus a Q&A and awards presentation with no ticket required for public admission. 3WV

- ➤ The CHS urban farming program delivered its first crop of lettuce to the cafeteria earlier this month for chef salads, showcasing a 12-year effort to teach agriculture and business skills through projects built by students (including a greenhouse and chicken coop). 3WV
- ➤ The Summer Language Institute lets students learn one or two years of a language in four or eight weeks at U.Va. (founded in 1981). Director Vera Abbate says the program builds fluency, confidence, and community in a fast-paced, immersive setting. The Cavalier Daily
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The NCAA men's lacrosse national championship at Scott Stadium ended as Princeton and Notre Dame competed on campus (the title weekend was the first held on a college campus since 2002). It marked the University of Virginia's third time hosting the game. 29 News
- ➤ Virginia baseball enters the NCAA tournament as the Cavaliers, led by first-year coach Chris Pollard (hired from Duke), will face Jacksonville State at 7 p.m. Friday in the Hattiesburg Regional at Pete Taylor Park. Cville Right Now
