  • Tomorrow, June 14, the 9th annual Charlottesville-Albemarle Black Business Expo will be held at the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center alongside the Juneteenth celebration from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature vendor booths + business panel discussions, a pitch contest and live entertainment for all ages.  29 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Albemarle County Public Schools are using a 'whole truth history' curriculum that uses old documents to help students learn about slavery, the Civil War, and fights for justice—changes made after a deadly white nationalist rally raised concerns about teaching biased history. Local teachers support the approach while critics worry it may spark more debate on what should be taught—schools say the lessons help students think critically about the past.  Cville Right Now

  • Albemarle County said services may be disrupted this afternoon due to internet outages at the County Office Building at McIntire and the Annex off 5th Street.   • Charlottesville Police Chief Michael Kochis — recognized for his work building trust with residents — was named the Charlottesville Area Rotary Citizen of the Year by the local Rotary Club, honoring his focus on transparency and community collaboration.  3WV
  • Charlottesville missed a May 21 filing deadline in a lawsuit over recent upzoning, and nine local residents claim the city now defaults on the case - contracted lawyers admitted their oversight.
