- ➤ After two years of planning, the Charlottesville Police Department will host its first gun buyback program on Friday, June 27th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church (near a recent shots-fired investigation on 1st Street South) and will offer gift cards based on the firearm turned in. 3WV
- ➤ The City of Charlottesville is revising its short-term rental rules and is asking residents, property owners, and visitors to complete an online survey that closes June 30 — the survey feedback will help guide staff as they review other local ordinances and plan public sessions this summer and fall before the draft ordinance goes to City Council in early 2026. - ➤ Today, David Johnson will hike 11 miles on the Appalachian Trail to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s research and care as part of the Longest Day initiative.
