- ➤ Data from the Charlottesville Police Department shows that during May and June this summer, there were 6 shots fired incidents and 4 shootings compared to 21 and 6 last year, and CPD chief Michael Kochis said improved staffing & community efforts helped reduce gun violence. 3WV

- ➤ UVA economics professor Jonathan Colmer urged local officials—using a new tool that merges Census data with weather forecasts—to pinpoint vulnerable groups during disasters. - ➤ The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors will start road improvement work in the Pantops area in Fall 2026—one year sooner than planned—to make traffic flows, walking, and biking safer. - ➤ After a severe drought in 2002, Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority started a master water plan that includes building a new Central Water Line and expanding Ragged Mountain Reservoir capacity — projects that will finish later to secure water supplies during future droughts. 29 News
- ➤ The City of Charlottesville earned a Class One ISO rating for fire protection — the highest rating available — that may lower insurance costs for local homes and businesses.
