Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville has increased affordable home building and uses the CHAP grant program to offer $1,000 & $2,500 in tax relief to eligible homeowners earning less than $62,000.

A 21-year-old man from Lockhart, Texas pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy charges for a kidnapping-for-ransom scheme that ended in a fatal shootout in the Belmont neighborhood in January 2023—where a failed ransom exchange spurred a victim’s husband to fatally shoot one kidnapper.
