Today the Albemarle County Fair celebrated local agriculture by focusing on farming exhibits and traditional practices rather than Ferris wheels or cotton candy & simple displays that honor the region’s heritage.

Organizers said the event aims to bring the community together & support local farming traditions.

Former UVA basketball and football player Mark Cooke returned to Charlottesville and joined CavFutures Marketing Inc. as chief operating officer in June—he now works with UVA’s football and basketball teams to set up NIL deals and build career paths for student athletes.

Virginia State’s Police 3A Task Force executed two search warrants in Charlottesville on Thursday afternoon and early evening.

The first warrant was served on the 1200 block of Cherry Avenue and the second at the 600 block of 6th Street SE — no further details were provided.

Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner said they are disappointed that Gov. Virginia has not yet said how it will enforce new federal SNAP rules that require work and restrict some immigrants—Legal Aid Justice Center counsel said no one will lose benefits without written notice.

SNAP benefits distributed from August 1 to 4 continue as usual, leaving many residents uncertain about future changes.

A statement from UVA released on Friday said the deed was filed with the Charlottesville Circuit Court Clerk, officially transferring former FEI from the U.S. Department of Education to UVA.

RWSA will begin a four-year water main project this fall to upgrade Charlottesville's water system—this project has been planned for decades to strengthen service for residents.
