- ➤ Nyeem Hill, a Scottsville teen who led a police chase that forced UVa to shelter in place in February, received nearly two additional years in jail for a probation violation—after a judge ruled he was armed despite his lawyer’s claim that his jeans were too tight to hold a gun. - ➤ Albemarle County was awarded a $9.7M grant from the Virginia Business Ready Sites Program for site readiness work at Rivanna Futures (acquired in December 2023). The grant, administered by the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, will expedite pre-construction activities to attract high-quality jobs in sectors such as bioscience and defense (a key aim for the county).
