  • An animal shelter and a running shop have teamed up to launch Sneakers4Good—a campaign that will keep shoes out of landfills and raise funds for animals in need.  29 News

CRIME NEWS

  • Joey Owings, a 22-year-old Charlottesville solar panel installer, was charged with reckless driving after his 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle crashed on Garth Road on March 23, killing his housemate Jake Martel at the University of Virginia Medical Center — he was arrested in late April.  The Daily Progress

  • Experts say spotted lanternflies continue to grow in Central Virginia and feed on the sap of trees and vines, which may harm crops such as grapevines while also lowering plant health.
