- ➤ Today, the UVA Student Council voted no confidence in the Board of Visitors after it appointed an interim president (the resolution took specific issue with the appointment). 29 News
- ➤ The UVA Student Council passed a resolution on August 8 declaring no confidence in the Board of Visitors because the interim president was appointed without transparency or student input—UVA’s Faculty Senate also voted no confidence amid weeks of poor communication. 29 News
- ➤ Albemarle and Charlottesville schools are preparing to return on Wednesday while educators study how challenges outside of school may affect student achievement—City of Promise is working to help families from underserved communities with job and learning support. Local divisions are also investing in counselors and teacher training to address these issues. 3WV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Albemarle County supervisors met on Wednesday to debate new rules for data centers and to consider allowing larger facilities in special overlay districts — some supervisors expressed concerns about energy use and noise. County staff will continue to work on the ordinance as public hearings are set for Sept 23 and Nov 19. The Daily Progress
