- ➤ On Tuesday, a suspected gas explosion on Ferndown Lane broke a home—killing one woman, injuring a man and damaging 12 houses—and the Red Cross team led by local volunteer Bill Fisher arrived within an hour to help neighbors get lodging and supplies. Cville Right Now

- ➤ Today, UVA first-year students are moving into campus dorms as move-in day is in full swing—students are setting up and beginning their college life, while officials note the start of a new academic year on campus. 29 News
