  • Daryl Rivera rescued a driver from a burning car while on his way to open his food truck in Fluvanna County—his brave act has been honored by the Sheriff’s Office and he plans to check on the driver soon.  29 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • University of Virginia School of Medicine researchers received a $2.3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Defense to test a new MRI scanner that may reveal hidden brain injuries in soldiers from blast exposures. The three-year study will begin later this year and will scan 60 service members to improve diagnosis and treatment — a breakthrough that could better protect military personnel — by detecting subtle brain changes.  3WV

SPORTS NEWS

  • In Raleigh, the Virginia Cavaliers lost to North Carolina State after missing three key fourth-quarter scoring chances — including two red-zone drives — that could have changed the game. Coach Tony Elliott said his team must grow as a late interception by Cian Slone and a missed field goal ended their play, raising questions about UVA’s ability to finish games.  Cville Right Now
