- ➤ University officials announced a new presidential search committee with heavy athletic representation that includes Athletic Director Carla Williams, celebrated alumna Gretchen Walsh and Virginia Athletics Foundation executives—committee members met on Aug. 22 and plan to present three candidates over the next six months. Interim President Paul G. Mahoney has led the university since Aug. 11 and will continue until a new president is named. The Cavalier Daily
- ➤ The Academic and Student Life Committee met last Thursday and learned that terminated grants cost the University $73.6 million as of Aug 26 while discussing federal funding challenges and plans to boost research support. Interim Provost Brie Gertler outlined an AI group for students and faculty — with incoming dean Leo Lo starting his role today — and the Committee also approved five new professorships. - ➤ U ASK, UVA ANSWERS will invite community members to the Central Downtown Library to meet with UVA experts in psychology—medicine—technology—and the environment as part of a new free monthly series. - ➤ On Friday, the Finance Committee of the Board of Visitors heard an annual report from Robert Durden of UVIMCO (which manages the University’s endowments) that showed a 12.4 percent return and growth of assets to $15.5 billion amid uncertain times. The Committee approved seven action items including a 6-year plan (needed by the State Council) and state budget requests for upcoming fiscal years. The Cavalier Daily
- ➤ The Audit, Compliance and Risk Committee met Friday to review the FY2025 financial audit progress and discuss updated privacy policies and compliance risk assessments with University Counsel — the meeting also covered strategic financial decisions for the Health System with a follow-up scheduled for December. Updated policies will guide how the University manages personal information and compliance, addressing both academic and health system operations. The Cavalier Daily
- ➤ The League of Women Voters of the Charlottesville Area will host a series of listening tables at schools, libraries and community centers in (Charlottesville, Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson) counties later this month through October to gather community feedback before the November election. 29 News

- ➤ Terrie Edwards, who worked for Sentara Health for over 16 years, has been named interim CEO of UVa Medical Center in Charlottesville. The Daily Progress
- ➤ Dr. Mitch Rosner was named CEO of UVa Health System on Friday, Sept. 12 after serving as interim leader following Dr. Craig Kent's resignation. The board approved his three-year term to lead four hospitals (including the flagship in Charlottesville) and medical and nursing schools (his longtime UVA service bolstered the decision). - ➤ Virginia's volleyball team hosted Michigan at the Aquatic and Fitness Center over Friday and Saturday — earning its first win against the Wolverines in a five-set match and then losing a second game by sweep. Coach Shannon Wells said the win gave the team valuable confidence and that they will prepare carefully for conference play and future matches in Columbus. The Cavalier Daily
- ➤ Virginia field hockey beat James Madison 4—1 on Sunday in Charlottesville. The game stayed close until Virginia scored late with penalty corner goals, keeping their unbeaten season intact. The Cavalier Daily
- ➤ On Saturday, Virginia football celebrated U.Va. Strong Day by honoring the legacies of Lavel Davis Jr.—Devin Chandler and D’Sean Perry, with families joining the coin toss and the field marked by the numbers 1, 15 and 41, as the Cavaliers won 55-16 over William & Mary.
