- ➤ Route 29 bypass north of Ivy Road is blocked after a semi hit the Old Ivy Road Bridge under construction, knocking a temporary beam out of place — Albemarle Police say the closure is likely extended so drivers should exit at Barracks southbound or Fontaine northbound. Cville Right Now

- ➤ Tubby's Restaurant and Deli on East High Street will reopen Friday, October 3 at 10 a.m. after closing in June and will keep its menu the same while undergoing new renovations under new ownership—continuing a tradition that has lasted more than 40 years in Charlottesville. 29 News

- ➤ Jefferson-Madison Regional Library will eliminate most overdue fines on library materials from July 1—2026 to help more than 10,000 cardholders regain access. Certain inter-library loans may still have fines as the board works on details to replace lost revenue using state aid—Friends of the Library and reserve funds. 29 News

- ➤ Gov. Youngkin and Lt. Gov. Earle-Sears attended a groundbreaking ceremony in Charlottesville for the new $200 million Afton Scientific facility — a sign of growing local jobs — and they credited their effort to attract businesses for Virginia's economic boost. Earle-Sears said job gains will continue if elected and Youngkin maintained that their work has made Virginia open for business. Cville Right Now
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ UVA Cancer Center’s Stay in the Game initiative is partnering with communities in Charlottesville and Danville to raise prostate cancer awareness and reduce harmful myths about screening. Community outreach specialist Ashley Banegas said the program will foster conversations that help people learn the signs and get tested — a step that may lead to earlier treatment — and improve health outcomes. 29 News
- ➤ VDACS confirmed a gelding quarter horse stabled in Orange tested positive for West Nile Virus after it showed neurological symptoms and is now quarantined—its condition is improving. Horse owners are advised to consult their veterinarians about vaccinating to help prevent the virus. 3WV
