  • Hundreds joined the Jazz Parade for Democracy downtown as part of Indivisible Charlottesville’s Democracy Fair—this event brought local residents together in a civic demonstration.  29 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Thomas Jefferson Foundation launched its new 10-year plan 'Climb the Mountain, Discover America' during a community walk at Monticello on November 1—this initiative sets four strategic goals to enhance learning, share history and foster connection for visitors and community members. Jane Kamensky said the plan will build local skills and partnerships while deepening understanding of American heritage.  29 News
  • Michael Che performed stand-up at the Paramount Theater before a crowd of 1,100 in Charlottesville—he joked about faking a COVID illness to get here and mixed raunchy humor with sincere moments about dating and aging. HEALTH NEWS

  • Camp Holiday Trails held a reception on November 1 as it broke ground on its 2.5 million dollar Med Korner facility—built to add treatment rooms, a sensory space and a hospital-grade 24-hour pharmacy to serve children and teens with medical needs. The nonprofit will finish construction by summer and still must raise over 300,000 dollars for final costs, furnishings and landscaping.  29 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Virginia linebacker Kam Robinson said his interception return for a touchdown at Cal sealed the game and helped secure his team’s win.  The Daily Progress
  • Virginia football’s Drake Metcalf moved from guard to center when teammate Brady Wilson got hurt and he led the offensive line in key games against teams like Florida State. After Wilson returned healthy on Saturday at North Carolina—Metcalf switched back to guard and continues his studies in public policy while playing bagpipes to honor his heritage.  The Cavalier Daily
  • Virginia’s football, men’s soccer, women’s soccer and field hockey teams are performing strongly this season as they chase ACC and NCAA titles—football is 8-1 and bowl-eligible, men’s soccer has an 11-game unbeaten home streak, women’s soccer climbed to No. 1 before settling at No. 7, and field hockey remains in strong contention for a postseason run.  The Cavalier Daily
  • Virginia beat California 31—21 on Saturday when Kam Robinson’s 35-yard interception return sealed the win. J’Mari Taylor ran for 105 yards and two touchdowns—helping the Cavaliers record their seventh straight win and best 8-1 start since 1990.  Cville Right Now
  • The Virginia men's cross country team won the ACC Championship for the first time since 2008+ they secured victory after a close race with Syracuse that was decided by only four points. They will run at the NCAA Southeast Regional in Charlottesville in two weeks.  The Cavalier Daily
