  • Jefferson-Madison Regional Library is hosting its annual Winter Book Drive—designed to collect new, unwrapped children’s books for ages 0 to 12 for local preschools, Head Start programs and UVA’s chapter of Remote Area Medical—to receive donations until December 1.  29 News
  • On November 2, community members gathered at James Monroe’s Highland in Charlottesville for the free 'What’s In The Pot?' Fall Feast that celebrated food, farming, history, and health — focusing on African American heritage and descendant traditions. Guests learned about traditional foodways and ended the event with a Thanksgiving-style meal that underscored community self-reliance.  29 News

  • Vision BBQ in Charlottesville faces rising beef prices as brisket costs have jumped from $2.65 to over $5 per pound—forcing co-owner Michael Blevins to serve ribs daily and expand his sausage program.  29 News

  • Rafael Jódar won the Charlottesville Challenger on Sunday—defeating world No. 191 Martin Damm Jr. 6-3, 7-6—and improved his ranking from No. 207 to No. 166 while becoming the highest ranked collegiate player on the professional tour.  The Cavalier Daily
  • Virginia men’s soccer won the ACC regular season title with a 1-0 win at SMU Friday — it is the first outright title since 2001. The team stayed undefeated in ACC play this season and will host the quarterfinal match on Sunday at 4 p.m.  The Cavalier Daily
  • Virginia women’s basketball is aiming for a breakthrough season under Coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton in her fourth year as the team adds two new coaches, seven veteran transfers, and a four-star high school recruit to boost its depth — a move that sets the stage for a season opener Tuesday. The Cavaliers showed promise in a preseason exhibition win and will work to build stronger team chemistry and defense as they prepare for tougher ACC play.  The Cavalier Daily
  • Virginia field hockey clinched the ACC regular season co-champion title with a 5-3 win over Wake Forest, marking their ninth ranked victory of the season. The Cavaliers will begin postseason play Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in Louisville, Ky.  The Cavalier Daily
  • Sebastian Pop, a tall centerback for Virginia soccer, scored a go-ahead goal against UNC Greensboro on October 14 + coach George Gelnovatch called him the best center back in the league. Pop, who studies computer science, helped strengthen the defense and is key as the Cavaliers push for a deep postseason run + his quick play has boosted team performance.  The Cavalier Daily
  • No. 16 Virginia beat North Carolina, earning its sixth straight win after both teams were tied at 10 by the end of the second quarter in Chapel Hill. The game went to overtime — where Virginia secured the win.  The Cavalier Daily
