- ➤ CASPCA is asking for donations during its annual 2026 Calendar Contest, which ends Friday — the shelter has raised just under $5,000 so far, far below its $50,000 goal needed for expensive animal care such as leg amputations. - ➤ Lisa Torres, Charlottesville's longest-serving school board member, won a third term and said her top priority will be developing a new Early Learning Center planned to open in 2026 at Walker Upper Elementary. - ➤ Window washers in superhero costumes surprised pediatric patients at UVA Health's University Medical Center as they cleaned windows on the seventh and eighth floors today.
