COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Charlottesville Parks and Recreation partnered with City Schools to launch an after school free meals program that helps fight food insecurity among students. The program will serve rotating healthy meals at three sites—Greenstone on Fifth, the Key Rec Center, and the City of Promise Warehouse—for students after the school day ends.  29 News
  • The First In Foundation is hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser to support the Williams family who were impacted by a fire in the Keswick area. The dinner will provide vital funds and resources to help the family recover.  CBS 19 News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Panera Bread reopened its Hollymead location yesterday under the Flynn Group after closing during Covid-19 and has updated its space with local hires—marking its return to service. Today it is offering limited-time deals with free mugs and refill coupons through November 27, and on November 14 a purchase will earn a $5 off coupon valid November 15—December 15.  29 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Monticello and Highland have joined the Virginia 250 Passport program to encourage visitors to explore historic sites—supporting greater interest in Virginia’s heritage and tourism.  29 News
  • Graham Nash, known for his work with Crosby, Stills and Nash, will perform at The Paramount on April 15 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale for Paramount Star Circle Members on Wednesday at 10 a.m., for Paramount Members on Thursday at 10 a.m., and for the general public on Friday at 10 a.m.  3WV
  • The Fralin Museum of Art is hosting The World Between: Egypt and Nubia in Africa—an exhibit curated by Professor Anastasia Dakouri-Hild that features artifacts like pottery, statues, and 3D-printed models for visitors to touch. The display explains how Nubian cultures influenced ancient Egyptian traditions and offers interactive models to bring the shared history to life.  The Cavalier Daily
  • Monticello and Highland have joined the Virginia 250 Passport—a free program that gives visitors 15% off other historic sites after a visit. The move comes as the state nears the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and hopes to boost interest in Virginia's history.  29 News

  • The Virginia women swim team is aiming to win its sixth national championship as it leads the season with 40 top-16 finishes in 15 races.
