- ➤ Indivisible Charlottesville has launched the monthly Dine to Donate series with local restaurants — a day of giving designed to support community projects. The initiative will see eateries hosting the event on a rotating schedule. 29 News
- ➤ Toy Lift’s donation drive wrapped up Saturday (Dec. 6), but organizers say they still need donations and volunteers to support their ongoing efforts. CBS 19 News
- ➤ On Dec. 6, Charlottesville hosted the 'Stuff the Truck' drive that boosted the Marine Corps Toys for Tots effort by collecting donations to support families during the holiday season. 29 News
- ➤ On December 6, churches gathered at Abundant Life Ministries to distribute coats and hot meals to about 50 families; volunteers from Portico Church — the drive's organizer — worked alongside groups such as Great Outdoor Provision Co. and The Point to offer warmth and festive decor. 29 News

- ➤ The annual Lighting of the Lawn event will take place in early December with a dazzling themed light show on the Rotunda and pavilions. Six student members of the Lighting Committee have planned the programming that syncs lights with a mix of pop songs. The Cavalier Daily

- ➤ University labs are dealing with frozen grant funds and delayed reviews after federal funding cuts (including a $60 million reduction) that have forced researchers to postpone recruiting new graduate students and rely on internal funds to keep projects moving. - ➤ On Thursday, the U.Va. Health System Board reviewed Q1 fiscal 2026 results as CFO Stephanie Schnittger reported an operating margin of 55 million dollars versus the expected 3 million dollars and Professor Jonathan Lindner shared updates on heart research. - ➤ Virginia lost to Duke in overtime at the ACC championship game on Saturday, Dec. 6 in Charlotte (Duke won 27-20), and coach Tony Elliott said his team showed the heart of a champion despite the loss. 29 News
- ➤ Virginia Cavaliers recorded their 1,000th win with an 81-55 victory over Boston College on Sunday in Chestnut Hill (Mass.) as key players helped the team rebound from a tough loss to Vanderbilt; they will face Howard Wednesday and Winthrop on Dec. 20 at John Paul Jones Arena. The Cavalier Daily
- ➤ Virginia accepted its bowl game invitation for its first appearance since 2019 after the ACC Championship loss. The team will play 25th-ranked Missouri in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 27. 29 News
