  • At The Haven on Thursday, local service providers held a vigil to honor 14 community members whose lives were cut short by homelessness, drawing about 60 attendees — nearly double last year’s turnout — and urging increased support for those struggling with housing insecurity.  Charlottesville Tomorrow

  • Charlottesville’s Looking Glass has launched a 360-degree virtual tour that lets viewers explore its immersive art installations online. The high-resolution experience, available for $4, helps fund community events, art supplies & exhibitions.  29 News

  • On Friday, the Board of Visitors voted to appoint Scott Beardsley (longtime Darden School of Business Dean) as the next president at Thomas Jefferson's University. The decision marks a leadership transition at the institution.  CBS 19 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • U.Va. Health hosted a Q&A on Tuesday at McKim Hall and on Zoom where CEO Rosner outlined plans to expand primary care services + open a walk-in clinic for employees. He added that the team will investigate physician shortages in January as policy changes may raise costs.  The Cavalier Daily
  • A University of Virginia study found that children who receive smartphones before age 12 exercise less, sleep less & socialize in person less, which may increase obesity and mental health risks. The research suggests delaying smartphone use until high school could support healthier development.  29 News
