  • VDOT lifts lane closures to reduce holiday travel delays while downtown offers free parking in Market and Water Street garages from Dec. 20 to 25. CULTURE NEWS

  • The Crozet Trolley’s North Pole Express is set to run through Christmas Eve, departing from downtown Crozet’s Square and heading to Knight’s Gambit Vineyards for a festive ride that offers reindeer games, treats, and a chance to meet Santa (and create holiday memories for all ages).  29 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The University appointed Scott Beardsley as its 10th president on Friday despite criticism over the incomplete Board; state officials praised his credentials while others argued the appointment should be paused until the Board is fully constituted.  The Cavalier Daily

  • During the ACC Championship game in Charlotte on Dec. 6, backup receiver Eli Wood made crucial plays (including an overtime catch) that pushed Virginia’s playoff hopes, and he will start at the upcoming Gator Bowl as Trell Harris misses the game due to injury.  The Cavalier Daily
