🏘️ Community
The Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA reports a rise in pet adoptions this holiday season and local families are welcoming new pets into their homes.
The trend reflects the organization's ongoing efforts to connect community members with adoptable animals.
Nonprofits across Central Virginia are turning unwanted holiday items into vital support for local residents.
Donations of clothing, shoes, and other goods help cover operating costs and provide essential funds for organizations in Stanardsville and the surrounding areas.
CASPCA has seen a boost in pet adoptions as families welcome new animals during the holiday season (with extra time at home making it easier).
Community programs manager Laney Jooris said the shelter has experienced increased picks before and after Christmas.
🎓 Education
The University Judiciary Committee released its Fall Statistics Report that detailed 15 cases processed during the semester, including 13 against undergrads for violations involving university policy (Standards 6, 2 and 10), with sanctions such as community service and essays, and urged community engagement ahead of Judiciary Week in spring.
🏥 Health
A newly renovated sensory gym has opened at UVA Children’s Hospital thanks to a local partnership.
It gives young patients a safe place to move, play (and reset during treatment and recovery).
