  • Crozet Pizza at Buddhist Biker Bar welcomes locals and University students with daily service (closed Mondays) and themed nights like Tuesday trivia and Glozet drag shows. New general manager Brandon Shiflett plans to extend Thursday hours and bring live bands to boost the spot's homey feel.  The Cavalier Daily

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Virginia Guesthouse Hotel & Conference Center opened its doors Monday, Apr. 6 in UVA’s Ivy Corridor with 25,000 sqft of meeting space & 214 guestrooms, plus two restaurants & a coffee shop. General manager Gregg Hilker said the venue is designed for collaboration & events across Charlottesville.  29 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Archaeologists unearthed a brick kiln from the 1700s near Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello during excavation before construction began. Original inscriptions on the bricks offer rare insight into historic building methods (the kiln was found just feet from the house) and add context to the property’s history.  29 News
  • The archives show how Easters on Grounds evolved over decades (from a 1959 polo match that crowned a Polo Princess, through 1978 wild parties, to 1992 volunteer events). Film festivals and creative celebrations also shaped the spring festivities and local traditions.  The Cavalier Daily

  • Charlottesville Fire Department plans to buy smaller, agile trucks to better serve cyclists and pedestrians after community feedback at a recent town hall meeting (new models may cost over $1 million and require a 3-to-4 year build period).  3WV

  • UVA researchers are testing gene editing to treat a rare form of epilepsy on campus. The study is expected to move into early-stage experiments soon + builds on years of local expertise.  29 News

  • Virginia women’s basketball saw five players enter the transfer portal after parting ways with Coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton. The departures (announced from April 3 to April 6) affect the team as it plans changes ahead of the 2026-27 season.  The Cavalier Daily
  • No. 4 Virginia ended its season home schedule on Sunday with a 4 to 0 win over No. 59 Louisville at Boar’s Head Sports Club, with a senior day that honored Douglas Yaffa (in his final home match). The team faces Virginia Tech on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.  The Cavalier Daily
