  • On Monday morning, veterans + military families and community members gathered in Earlysville to honor fallen soldiers at a Memorial Day event and shared a moment of silence + reflection.  CBS 19 News
  • On a cloudy Memorial Day morning in Downtown Charlottesville, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1827 honored the fallen and remembered the sacrifice of service members. Attendees recited names & officials urged veterans with lingering wounds to find help, showing that the day meant more than a long weekend.  29 News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A severe accident occurred Saturday night at Crabtree Falls when Taniyah Flowers fell 150 feet and later died at UVA Medical Center while Keturah Hendricks was critically injured from a 75-foot fall and rescued by emergency crews—investigation is underway by the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office.  29 News

CRIME NEWS

  • The Albemarle County Police Department is investigating a possible targeted shooting after a home on Simpson Lane (in Esmont) sustained property damage just before midnight Saturday.  29 News
  • Albemarle County Police reported that gunfire struck several vehicles and buildings outside Brookdale Apartments on Country Green Road south of Charlottesville at 9:22 p.m. Saturday night with no injuries and the incident is believed to be isolated — authorities are investigating the case.  29 News

  • The Charlottesville Arts Festival has grown over the years and now supports both local artists and community. It hosts 50 artists chosen by a *competitive jury process*.  CBS 19 News

  • VDH alerted local residents about exposure at five locations in Albemarle and Charlottesville after a teenager with measles returned from international travel on May 20, May 22, and May 23.
