ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A lightning strike fire damaged a home on Stony Point Road Saturday afternoon near Watts Passage—firefighters arrived around 4 p.m. and one resident escaped safely while two people had to find new shelter with family support.  3WV
  • Police warn drivers to avoid the 1800 block of Fray Road near the line between Albemarle and Greene counties—heavy rainfall has caused part of the road to collapse near Advance Mills Road and it remains closed until further notice as crews assess damage.  29 News

CRIME NEWS

  • On Sunday, July 20th, an Albemarle County officer pulled over a vehicle on Pantops Corner Way when 33-year-old Trevious T. Sandridge of Charlottesville gave false identification and sped off, prompting a chase that ended in a hotel parking lot near Interstate 64—where a search found suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl and a sawed-off shotgun and led to charges for controlled substance possession, firearm offenses, felony eluding and providing false identification while he is held without bond at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.  3WV

  • Inka Grill is an immigrant-run restaurant serving traditional Peruvian flavors that local reporter Simon Davidson praised for enriching community life—its owners, Eddy and Percy Moreno, now operate two locations here and one in Roanoke with plans to expand into North Carolina.   • City Council on Monday night began re-adopting the 2024 Development Code — sending it to the Planning Commission for a public hearing within 100 days. City Staff aims to finalize the process as it continues legal recourse over the procedural court action.  Cville Right Now
